How farmers are discriminated and manipulated by Mafias

Wherever there is talk of beauty, from poets to adventurers, everyone’s blood stirs with excitement, and if beauty, weather and nature are together, then it isn’t possible that there isn’t any talk about the basic needs of humans on which humans rely and in case if you’re thinking about Agriculture, then you’re correct! And everyone knows what the situation of farmers is in our neighboring country now the thing to think is that situation doesn’t occur with farmers in our homeland. Are our leaders taking farmers towards this situation too?

Last year in our country, farmers had to face a crisis, when the prices of wheat were not stable and farmers had to face massive loss. Mafias in our country not only earned commission by selling wheat but also earned when bought wheat from other countries.

Sometimes, the situation is such worse that rats eat the wheat in the warehouses or storage houses. Now, is it how we’re contributing back to the hard work, sweats and spending of that farmer? One who just gives the whole year for wheat, thinking that he might make some profit for the hard work he did. But the hard truth is that neither the government nor we could repay the contributions of that one farmer and there are millions. Government needs to reduce prices of specific fertilizers… Farmers have to pay their complete taxes without any tax relief, and I think they need a relief from the government. If they have to buy expensive fertilizers, make sure the grains/wheat stay safe, put their efforts and then need some profit; it’s their right, and they should get it. So, I suppose they should get some tax relief and facilities so that it motivates and encourages them to work better.

A little before, researchers even warned that the water has completely dried out from the lands. Now, the government put restrictions on car washers and companies that they use recycled water instead of using fresh water and wasting it. But was it truly the correct solution? What about those who can’t put such heavy machines that could store or recycle the water?

Well, normally, if we can’t get those heavy machines; we can also take some small steps, through which we can save our environment. I have heard from many… that sometimes heavy motors pull all the water and then there’s no water left in the land. Then for water, people need rains, which if not happen, then the land will just stay dry, which affects a lot. So instead of wasting water through motors; we should just get water that we need and is enough for us. And if possible, then we should, put hand pumps on public places, so that not only everyone is facilitated from it but also that water doesn’t get wasted.
So taking small steps can help our environment a lot. These small steps include reusing the water after rain. We can water the plants using that water; we can store it and do multiple things. So, we should never underestimate small steps, as they sometimes are crucial for our environment.

Also, Government needs to plant more trees and most important, we need more dams in our countries as it is crucial not only for storing water but for electricity, of which there’s always need here, and low amount electricity production causes power outages, which isn’t feasible by our people because electricity has become a basic need of people in this era. Especially, in summers when electricity is consumed more by the people; then the same water which is stored in the dams will be beneficial, as we won’t have to wait for any extra rains to produce more electricity, but we have already stored enough so we could produce electricity. Also, when there’s less electricity, then we need a lot of coal and diesels, which not only is expensive but also when it burns, then it pollutes the atmosphere which has its own negative impacts. Well, it also makes electricity expensive for people. Also, sometimes when there’s more heat during summers due to global warming; it causes glaciers to melt which add up in the River Indus, and then just mix into the Arabic Sea, which makes it useless and big amount of fresh and clean water is wasted every year.

The injustice is at its peak. Who knows what’s going to happen this time in the country about agriculture. Well, there were many warnings that rain wouldn’t come soon, which just horrified the farmers who don’t have access to rivers and even rivers were drained.

But God wants to run the world, therefore, there was rain from the past few days, which blocked many roads, which also made the mud roads wet, caused some troubles in the work that is going on roads, caused traffic jams but also was a betterment for farmers and the sicknesses that were going to hit but didn’t hit because of no rain. Like in California, when there was no rain for a long time, and low humidity caused dry trees which led to an intense wild fire, leading to many people getting misplaced, many family members being separated, and no insurances made the situations even worse. People lost their houses, their pets and even many lost their own lives. Well, here rain from the past few days has saved many livelihoods and the agriculture sector of this country.

Agriculture has been a major contributor to the economy of this country. But farmers should be given advantages and relieves. Even if a country is developing, they shouldn’t forget about the main sectors, who have continuously been contributing in the economy of the country while it was developing.

Last year, a scheme was launched by the government of Punjab as “Kisan Card” where farmers are given a farmers card, they have to get it activated and they get a specific amount of loan from a government to spend, and lets farmers access subsidies and benefits from the government. To be eligible to get a Kisan card farmers should fulfill some specific requirements like having up to 12.5 acres of land.

Government should continuously provide benefits to farmers, to not only motivate them but also help them financially so that they could work better.

Farmers known as backbone of any country are big helpers and contributors, not merely the economy but also fulfill our basic needs. They will continue their work, all of us need to help them, also to remember their hard work and let them get what they deserve for the efforts!
