Is it Now U.S. VS Ukraine? | The Trump-Zelensky Conflict Unfolds

Is it United States VS Ukraine now? The Conflict of Trump and Zelensky

It happens in the world that if you sit in front of a powerful person, you’re suppressed. Something same happens with Volodymyr Zelensky, when he was having a meeting with Donald Trump.

On 28th of February, 2025, on Friday, there was a meeting in the Oval office, White house in USA, between Trump and Zelensky to bring an end to the Russia – Ukraine conflict. But this meeting became a fury a little later.

Well, before looking at what happened in the meeting; let’s see what caused President Zelensky to go to White House, U.S.A. for the meeting.

Well, Trump demanded 50% of Ukraine’s minerals including very important minerals like lithium, titanium etc. in return for continued aids to Ukraine. Aids from U.S. are very important for Ukraine but also they don’t want to lose the control over their valuable minerals. Also, another important reason for President Zelensky to refuse the agreement was that even for 50% of the minerals; the agreement was not confirming to provide any security guarantees which is a concern for Ukraine as Zelensky didn’t want to share half of their important minerals and revenue from crucial natural resources in exchange of no security guarantees. Another thing for concern for Ukraine was that the aids from U.S. were being counted as debt which will put Ukraine in a weaker financial position.

Zelensky also said in the meeting that Putin broke in 25 times, so ceasefire will never work, how they can believe? what if they stop war now but after some years Russia invades again. Then the Vice President sitting on the side say that the path to peace and prosperity is maybe engaging in diplomacy in the response to which Zelensky reply that “what kind of diplomacy J.D.”, and start counting the incidents happened in the past. Well an important fact is that once Ukraine was the 3rd largest nuclear power but in 1994 it became the first country to give up its nuclear voluntarily. So in the same year 1994, The Budapest Memorandum was signed by United States, United Kingdom and Russia to ensure safety to Ukraine in exchange for giving up their nuclear. But since Russia attacked Ukraine so the agreement is useless and now U.S. is also somewhere, somehow withdrawing support for Ukraine because of what Zelensky said what kind of diplomacy to J.D. Vance. At this point Mr. Vice President starts to get angry saying that “Mr. President (Zelensky) with respect, I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the oval office to try to litigate this in front of the American media”. Zelenskyy later says if U.S. doesn’t stop Russia from that, one day U.S. will have to face that as well. After that President Trump also gets angry saying that you don’t have the cards right now which would later be told in the article.

It starts when Zelensky arrives in oval office, which is considered the highest office of the United States of America. There was something wrong with attire of Zelensky, as he was dressed casually. This thing was not only noticed and in fact minded by the media, but also trump and his team as well. Trump when he shook hands with Zelensky initially, sarcastically says that “Oh you’re all dressed up”, which clearly highlighted the casual dressing of president Zelensky.

Also, in the oval office, one of the journalists also questioned the dressing of Zelensky that he was wearing a casual dress but not a formal suit as it is kind of disrespect as he’s sitting in the highest office of the United States of America.

Zelensky replied that “I will wear a costume when the war is finished”. Though, there was a fury, but there were some good moments too, for example: when Trump answered some of the questions asked by the media and when Zelensky was to answer, Trump said to Zelensky that he likes his clothing and doesn’t know if you both (Zelensky and the journalist who asked about clothing) like each but, I like your clothing but that guy (the journalist) too. When Zelensky starts answering; Trumps winks at the journalist.

Then Mr. Vice President J.D.Vance, responded and here’s where the big fury starts.

Trump then erupts into anger to Zelensky and says that “you don’t have the cards right now”, Zelensky replied that he’s not playing cards but Trump said yes he is. Trump also said that Zelensky is gambling with the lives of millions of people and also gambling with World War III.

A few minutes later, Trump dismissed the media saying “This is going to be great television”.

Well, later Zelensky lefts the oval office and not only that but also leave for Europe where the Prime Minister of UK, Keir Starmer conducts a Europe summit in the UK for Ukraine.

UK has conducted a summit of Europe to support Ukraine. Many European leaders like France’s President Emmanuel Macron, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen, Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, some other European leaders and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Keir Starmer announced to from a “coalition of the willing”, to support Ukraine. They aim to help and support Ukraine by providing aid and military support. They are also planning to do peace negotiations to stop the war.

United Kingdom has also provided 1.6 Billion Pounds in export financing for 5,000 air defense missiles, which are to be manufactured in Northern Ireland.

Also, UK has provided 2.2 Billion Pounds military aid to Ukraine which is from the frozen Russian assets.

European Union has announced 500 million Euros for military aid. Other countries in the coalition like France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy and Canada will provide military aid to Ukraine.

Well, President Volodymyr Zelensky also met King Charles III in the Sandringham Palace.

Furthermore, there were discussions to maintain peace and more peace plans to end the conflict between the two countries.

On the other hand, Trump puts 25% of tariffs on Canada and Mexico and an additional 10% on China as well.

In response, Canada also imposed a 25% on United States of America and China has also put 10-15% on United States.

Well, usually such discussions happen behind closed doors, but have happened in front of the whole world. They are also humans and maybe even messier than anyone else. So, it was like, President, Vice President and Journalists were trying to remind President Zelensky again and again that if US was not there to help Ukraine, they would have lost war very earlier and that his position is quite weak in the war.
